Newsletter November 20
November 20, 2009
The holidays are fast approaching. Where did this year go? It seems like time just flew right by. Here in the US it's almost time for Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving. I think, in the ups and downs of life, it's good to take a moment to step back and really look at all the things we have to be thankful for. I'm really looking forward to spending time with some of my family at Thanksgiving this year. The shop itself will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th, but we will be open on Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th. When you've had enough of the chaos of Black Friday, think about stopping in to see us and relax a little! We will also be closed December 24th through December 26th for Christmas.
Patchwork Express

Speaking of Christmas, if you're anything like me, when someone asks you what you want for Christmas you immediately have trouble thinking of something. This year, why not consider asking for a trip on the Patchwork Express! The North Texas Patchwork Express is a two day trip full of fun and shopping with a group of other quilters to visit eight wonderful quilt shops. For more information about this fantastic weekend, click here!
Harriet Hargrave
Common Threads Quilting is pleased to announce that Harriet Hargrave will be teaching Heirloom Machine Quilting during a retreat at Our House In Milford on June 4-6, 2010. The price for this weekend will be $295 which includes Harriet's fee, two nights' lodging and six meals. A supply list will be given when the fee is paid. We are accepting reservations now for this class, and I'm sure you know that it will fill up fast, so don't delay if you want a spot. Email the shop or give us a call and we'll get you on the list.
New Fabrics

Toast II by Jo Morton for Andover - We got an opportunity to see some of these fabrics at Quilt Market, and we're excited that they're finally available! Jo always chooses such lovely colors that work so beautifully in reproduction quilts. We're sure you'll agree that this line is a winner. To see the whole line, click here.
Pennock Album by Windham - In association with the Chester County, Pennsylvania Historical Society, Windham has produced a stunning line of fabrics, based on the Pennock Album Quilt from around 1840. This line is so beautiful that we actually had a hard time choosing just one to use here in the newsletter. You're definitely going to want to see the rest of the line here.

Civil War Tribute by Judie Rothermel for Marcus Bros. - Judie Rothermel's sense of authentic color is evident in this commemorative collection of Civil War reproduction fabrics. You can see a gorgeous example of these fabrics in use by taking a look at our Civil War Tribute Block of the Month quilt. To see the entire line of fabrics, click here.

Turn of the Century by Exclusively Quilters - This line features some great reds, blues, blacks and neutrals that will just look fantastic in your quilts. We can't wait to get started with some of these fabrics. You can see the entire line here.
Block of the Month

Flags of the American Revolution - You'll love this great new quilt. It measures 76" by 76" (how appropriate!). The program will run 10 months beginning in December. Each month you will receive the fabrics for one or more blocks (some months you'll get multiple blocks). Included is a free button pack for embellishment. The book is required and sold separately. As always, we will post our blocks as they are done, like the eagle block to the left. For more information on this Block of the Month, click here.
Kits
Ending Soon!
The block of the month programs for Anita's Christmas Quilt, Starburst, and Folk Art Blooms are almost sold out. So if you've been waiting before joining one of these programs, this is your last chance to get in on them.
We also still have a few kits left for Wild Pomegranate, but once they're gone that will be it. We won't be making fabric substitutions on this one, because we're so pleased with the original fabric we chose. If you wanted to get this kit, don't delay.
Pieceful Blessings,
Denice & Staff
