They say March comes in like a lion, but so far the weather here has been much calmer than that. After our record snowfall last month, we're getting temperatures that feel just like Spring, and we're definitely enjoying it! By the way, if you haven't seen Denice's blog post about our unexpected snowfall, you should check it out. To say we were surprised is an understatement. It doesn't snow like that in Texas!

Block of the Month

Civil War Bride - We are thrilled to offer this beautiful quilt designed by Corliss Searcy as a Block of the Month. Each month you will receive the pattern and fabric to make two blocks for the first 10 months. Month 11 you will receive the pattern and fabric for two of the borders; and month 12 you will receive the remaining two borders. This program will begin in April, but you can order at any time. Baskets of Friendship - This lovely quilt is big..it measures 82" by 101". We are using the Toile Essentials from Andover for the four patches in the background of each basket block--and of course reproduction fabric for the applique. Victoria's Crown - Terry Clothier Thompson used one of her antique quilts as the inspiration for this beautiful quilt. We are offering it as a 10 month Block of the Month. Each month for nine months you will receive the pattern and fabric for one block. Month 10 you will receive the fabric for the border. For more information about this program, click here.

The Farmer's Wife Sampler - We are very pleased to announce that we are now offering this Block of the Month program in 30's fabric as well as in the original 19th Century reproduction fabric. Kits

Bull Run - What better quilt to showcase the Covey Toile than this quilt designed by Clothesline Quilts in their Civil War Battle Series. The kit contains the pattern and fabric for an 85" by 105" quilt top along with the binding. For more information about this kit, click here.

James River Blues - This quilt was designed by Paula Barnes of Bonnie Blue Quilts. We've chosen Jo Morton's Indigo Berries line of fabric for this kit. The quilt top measures 84" by 84" and the kit contains fabric for the quilt top and binding. For more information on this kit, click here.

Collections Charity by Howard Marcus for Moda - Moda's latest Collection for a Cause is a Civil War era reproduction line by Howard Marcus. A portion of the proceeds from this line will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association. To see the entire line, click here.

In the next few weeks we will have another Block of the Month program ready for you. This quilt was designed by the Sunflower Pattern Cooperative. Keep an eye on our Facebook page; we will announce it there first, and give you a chance to see the full quilt.

All Aboard the Patchwork Express

Patchwork Express is filling quickly. We don't have a lot of seats left. The North Texas Patchwork Express is a two day trip full of fun and shopping with a group of other quilters to visit eight wonderful quilt shops. For more information about this fantastic weekend, click here!

Wildflower Trails Shop Hop

Don't forget the Wildflower Trails Shop Hop is March 25-27, and our special guest, Arlene Sachitano, will be in the shop on March 26th to sign copies of her newest book. The Hop extends from Georgetown to Cedar Hill and involves 8 shops. The theme this year is Vacation Destinations. Common Threads destination is a Ranch (and our quilt will be western). Hours are 9:00AM-8:00PM all three days. Each shop will offer a gift certificate to one lucky person and there will be two grand prizes of gift baskets valued at $350 and $500. You must complete your passport to be eligible for the prizes, so make your plans now!
