Here at Common Threads we're quickly heading into Summer. Sometimes I think that Texas just skips Spring and moves straight to hot! But we have plenty of things to distract you from the weather, including a new Common Threads Exclusive Block of the Month!
Block of the Month

The Generals' Ladies - We're excited to announce our latest exclusive Block of the Month which honors the wives of American Civil War Generals, both Confederate and Union. The quilt measures 94" x 94" and all the blocks were designed by Denice. For more information on this block of the month program, click here.

Baltimore Christmas - If you loved Baltimore Halloween, boy have we got a quilt for you! This beautiful quilt was also designed by P3 Designs and measures 69" X 69". The button kit for the quilt is included free of charge, and we are also offering an optional thread pack containing 6 spools of Sulky 12 weight thread for an extra charge. For more information on this block of the month, click here.
Kits

Sophia's Belmont - We've chosen the Sophia line from Windham for this quilt. The deep reds and contrasting blacks really show off the pattern of this quilt. The quilt is 78" X 102". For more information on this kit, click here.

Pea Ridge - This great quilt honors Lincoln, Grant, and Lee and was designed by Clothesline Quilts. We've used the Gettysburg Remembrance line from Blue Hill. You can click on the blocks below for an up-close view. For more information on this kit, click here.
New Fabric

Cedar Chest - This new line by Faye Burgos for Marcus Brothers uses antiqued tones of brown and pink. The line displays a home decor influence in the wallpaper stripe, and there are many creative possibilities with the unique diagonal stripe. To see the entire line, click here.

Redwood - New florals have the look & feel of wildflowers from an Old English botanical garden, especially in red and brown tones. To see the entire line, click here.

Cocoa Express - Jo Morton's newest line for Andover is the rich brown of its namesake, with wonderful patterns in gold and tan. To see the entire line, click here.
June is almost here, and with it will come our Second Annual "Covering Waxahachie in Color" held in conjunction with the Gingerbread Trail, June 5th & 6th, 2010. Quilts will be displayed on the porches of houses on Main Street and in many downtown businesses.
At the shop (315 S. Rogers Street) we will have an exhibit from the American Quilt Study Group of Red & Green Quilts made by members of the group using designs taken from antique 19th Century appliqué quilts. Part of Denice's collection of antique appliqué quilts will accompany the "new" quilts for comparison. If you're in the area that weekend, we'd love to have you stop by. We will be open both Saturday and Sunday, with regular hours on Saturday and from noon to 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Don't forget that Common Threads can now be followed on Facebook. If you'd like to get immediate notification of our new fabrics, patterns and kits, as well as notifications of sales that don't always make it into the newsletters, consider becoming a fan of the page.
Pieceful Blessings,
