Newsletter October 4
October 4, 2009
Fall is coming, and with it comes Fall Quilt Market! We're really excited about the new things we're going to be seeing next week - new fabrics, new patterns and fantastic new ideas. Denice will be blogging from Market, so keep an eye on her blog to get pictures and stories. Also, because so many of us will be down in Houston on Thursday, there will be no Sit and Stitch on October 8.
Block of the Month

The Farmer's Wife Sampler - This program starts in January. Each month you will receive the fabric to make 10 blocks along with tips on making the blocks. The program will run 11 months. On months 5, 7 and 9 you will receive either sashing, setting triangles, or border along with your fabric for 10 blocks. The book is required and sold separately. The quilt is queen sized. We will be using 19th Century reproduction fabrics as close to the original as possible. For more information on this Block of the Month, please click here.
New Kit

Crosses and Losses - You'll love this beautiful teal and brown quilt. It's simple enough for a beginner, but looks like it's much harder. This kit was designed by Darlene Zimmerman using her Amalie Collection from Robert Kaufman Fabrics. The quilt measures 71" by 88". The kit contains the pattern and fabric for the quilt top along with the binding. For more information on this kit, click here.
New Fabrics

Collection for a Cause - Moda's Collection for a Cause: Alliance, a fabric line by Howard Marcus, is the company's newest project to benefit the Alliance for American Quilting. The fabrics were reproduced from a circa 1830-40's nine-patch chintz quilt from Pennsylvania. You can see the entire line of these beautiful fabrics here.
Stafford County by Jo Morton - Stafford County is Jo's latest line of 19th Century reproductions created for Andover Fabrics, and has some lovely colors and patterns, perfect for reproduction patterns! You can see the entire line here.
Don't forget that Common Threads can now be followed on Facebook. If you'd like to get immediate notification of our new fabrics, patterns and kits, as well as notifications of sales that don't always make it into the newsletters, consider becoming a fan of the page.
Pieceful Blessings,
